Thousands have protested outside a vote-counting station in Seoul calling for South Korea's local elections earlier this week to be reheld, saying a ballot shortage at dozens of polling stations left many unable to vote.

Protesters in South Korea are demanding a repeat of this week’s local elections after reports that ballot shortages left some people unable to vote.

 

REPORTER:  

Voters went to the polls Wednesday to elect officials including mayors and provincial governors. But at least fifty polling places ran out of ballot papers—and 22 more had to suspend voting as they waited for fresh supplies. Thousands of mostly young people gathered outside one vote-counting center in Seoul on Friday and Saturday calling for a fresh vote.
