Taiwan received the lower 10 percent rate in recognition of trade commitments with Washington. The move comes after the Trump administration's previous 10 percent global tariffs expired.

The US Trade Representative announced new tariffs of 10 to 12.5 percent on dozens of countries, starting Friday, following a Section 301 probe into forced labor practices. Taiwan received the lowest rate, 10 percent, in recognition of its earlier trade commitments with Washington. The move comes a day after President Trump's temporary tariffs expired.
