Taiwan’s foreign ministry says cases of transnational repression linked to China are increasing, according to a newly released report. Officials say Beijing has expanded its political intimidation efforts beyond traditional influence campaigns to include digital surveillance, stalking, harassment and alleged violent threats. The ministry says these actions form part of broader “hybrid warfare” tactics aimed at shrinking Taiwan’s international presence, alongside military pressure, economic coercion, gray-zone activities and information manipulation. Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung told lawmakers that Taiwan is working with national security agencies and international partners to counter such threats, while overseas representative offices have been instructed to update emergency response plans.
