Taiwanese Government Wary of China’s Incentives After KMT Chair's Visit
Following Kuomintang Chair Cheng Li-wun’s meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing, China has announced ten new measures that it says will deepen ties with Taiwan. These include plans to resume direct flights, relax travel restrictions for some Chinese tourists, and ease market access for Taiwanese agricultural products. While the KMT welcomes the move, Taiwan’s Democratic Progressive Party government warns these incentives are tools for political manipulation and election interference.
