Xi Stresses Shared Chinese Identity in Meeting With KMT Chair
A highly anticipated meeting between the leader of Taiwan's main opposition Kuomintang, Cheng Li-wun, and Chinese leader Xi Jinping took place on Friday morning in Beijing. Xi said people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are Chinese and want peace, while Cheng referred to "Chinese on both sides of the strait." Meanwhile, Taiwan's ruling party said that Cheng does not have authority to speak for Taiwan, nor can she make any deals with China.
