Sirens sounded across Wanli District in New Taipei City as local authorities and over 400 residents conducted a live-action nuclear evacuation drill within eight kilometers of the Kuosheng Nuclear Power Plant. The exercise simulated real-world disaster responses, including nursing home evacuations, iodine tablet distributions, and radiation decontamination checkpoints. Drones capable of mapping land, sea and air contamination were also deployed, offering a safer and more cost-effective alternative to manned helicopter tracking during potential nuclear events.
