Taiwan's Cabinet has presented a record US$111 billion budget for 2027 to President Lai Ching-te. Lai noted the budget focuses on developing key areas, including the tech sector, small and medium-sized enterprises and national defense. The final proposal will be submitted to the legislature by the end of August.

The Cabinet is eyeing its biggest annual budget ever, sharing a proposal for 111 billion US dollars in spending for next year.
Premier Cho Jung-tai presented the budget to President Lai Ching-te on Tuesday.
The president noted that the budget has 10 important considerations, including zero debt, expanding tech investment, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, boosting national defense and raising wage levels.
He noted that Taiwan's economic growth rate in 2025 was 8.76%, and said this needs to be reflected in government spending.
The Cabinet is expected to submit the proposal to the legislature in August. The legislature is still debating the budget for this current year.
