Taiwan Moves Closer to Lowering Voting Age From 20 to 18

Taiwan could lower its voting age from 20 to 18 as early as November’s local elections after draft amendments advanced through a legislative committee on Thursday. Because the voting age is prescribed in Taiwan’s constitution, any change would require support from at least three-quarters of lawmakers and approval from half of eligible voters in a referendum.
