Justices Return Constitutional Court to Operation Amid Gov't Crisis
Five justices on Taiwan's Constitutional Court have come out with their first ruling of the year, voiding amendments passed in January which rendered the court unable to function. The justices say the legislature violated due process and checks and balances, effectively shutting down an essential part of the government. It comes amid a constitutional crisis as the legislature and Cabinet are at odds over several measures and the opposition moving to impeach the president and premier.
