An army base in Taichung has opened its doors to the public for the first time in nine years, giving visitors a closer look at Taiwan’s military training and equipment. At Chengkungling Base, troops demonstrated how they would respond to an enemy attack, while several pieces of military hardware were put on display. The event also marked the first time the US-made M1A2T Abrams tank had been seen in public in Taichung. The base is an important training facility for recruits and conscripts.
