Taiwanese-owned Foxconn – one of Apple’s main contract manufacturers – is pausing operations at two iPhone factories in Shenzhen due to a spike in COVID-19 cases in the city and new lockdowns. Foxconn is a household name in Taiwan and is revered by many as a business success story. But as Bing Wang reports, the company’s success has not come without controversy.
