Taitung Fire Destroys Hectares of Protected Bird Habitat

A wildfire that broke out in the southeastern county of Taitung on Sunday destroyed around four hectares of scrubland before being extinguished. The area is a major habitat for the ring-tailed pheasant, a protected bird species.
