Taiwan Supporters Rally in New York for UN Participation

Hundreds of supporters rallied in Manhattan over the weekend to call for Taiwan’s participation in the United Nations as this year's UN General Assembly gets underway in New York. The rally coincided with the launch of a new Times Square billboard campaign by Taiwan’s representative office there, featuring the message, “Chip In With Taiwan, Deliver for All.” Taiwanese officials and advocacy groups say Taiwan’s expertise can contribute to the international community.

Hundreds of people took to the streets of Manhattan over the weekend, calling for Taiwan’s participation in the United Nations.

We not only hope Taiwan can join the UN.  
We also hope Taiwan can join the WHO, WHA and other international organizations.  
Taiwan must not be left out.

The rally comes as the 81st UN General Assembly gets underway in New York. A cross-party delegation of Taiwanese lawmakers also joined the launch of a new billboard campaign by Taiwan’s representative office there, featuring the message, “Chip in With Taiwan, Deliver for All.” Taiwanese officials and overseas advocacy groups are calling for greater international participation for Taiwan, saying its expertise in areas such as technology and public health can benefit the international community.
