Taiwan Steps Up European Outreach With High-Level Visits to Poland and Italy

Taiwan has sent two senior figures to Europe in the same week. Former President Tsai Ing-wen attended the Global Women Leaders Summit with former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, where she discussed global issues and pressures faced by Taiwan. She also met Italian lawmakers at the Senate. Separately, Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung wrapped up a six-day visit to Poland and Italy, leading a trade delegation to strengthen economic ties.

Taiwan is stepping up its outreach, with a former president and the foreign minister both traveling in Europe over the past week.

 

Former President Tsai Ing-wen attended the Global Women Leaders Summit chaired by former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. She also visited Italian lawmakers at the Senate, calling it a crucial opportunity to speak with democratic partners about global issues and pressures facing Taiwan. Separately, Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung wrapped up a six-day visit to Poland and Italy, leading a trade delegation to deepen economic ties.
