Lai Honors Czech Senate President for Longstanding Support for Taiwan
President Lai Ching-te has awarded the Order of Propitious Clouds to visiting Czech Senate President Miloš Vystrčil, recognizing his long standing support for Taiwan’s democracy and freedom. Lai highlighted Vystrčil’s 2020 visit to Taiwan, when he said, “I am Taiwanese,” a statement made despite pressure from China. Vystrčil said democratic countries must work together to defend freedom and strengthen resilience, calling for closer cooperation between Taiwan and the Czech Republic.
