US Slams China’s Role in Blocking Taiwan President’s Africa Trip
The US is calling on China to stop what it describes as a campaign of pressure and intimidation against Taiwan, following the last-minute postponement of President Lai Ching-te’s trip to Eswatini. A US State Department spokesperson told TaiwanPlus that three African countries, Seychelles, Mauritius and Madagascar, denied overflight permissions for Lai’s charter jet at Beijing’s request. The spokesperson said civil aviation should not be used for political purposes.
