Analysis: Foreign Affairs Op-Ed Floats US-China 'Grand Bargain' on Taiwan
An op-ed in Foreign Affairs Magazine by Chinese scholar Wu Xinbo proposes a “Grand Bargain” in which Washington would restrain Taiwan, and Beijing would reduce military activity around the Island. TaiwanPlus spoke to Arthur Wang, director at the Taiwan NextGen Foundation, who says the proposal reflects Beijing testing the waters and amounts to an unequal trade that would change the status quo.
