Taiwan is home to some of the best road cycling routes in the world and is even known as “The Kingdom of Bicycles.” Follow this group of cycling friends from all over Taiwan as they tackle a famous north-to-south cycling route over six days. Two Lighthouses in One Day is a famous cycling challenge that takes cyclists from the northernmost Fugui Cape lighthouse to the southernmost Eluanbi lighthouse in Taiwan. Known as “cutting the sweet potato,” this challenging route includes the central mountain range and the highest point on Taiwan’s roads, Wuling. Our group of 21 cyclists will tackle this challenge at their own pace over six days and five nights, with an attempt at a central mountain range challenge for three days in the middle of their journey. Starting at the iconic Fugui Cape lighthouse in the north of Taiwan, the cyclists traverse the iconic Bailaka Road to make their way towards the north cross-island highway. Along the way they experience Lala Mountain, famous for its peaches, a must-try delicacy. As they carry on, the cyclists pass by some notable landmarks on the way. However, their ride is abruptly cut short due to heavy rain. The current goal is to reach Jiaoxi in Yilan on the east coast of Taiwan, where the next leg of their journey begins. The next day dawns with bright weather and the cyclists are ready to take on the challenge. Over The Top is a yearly central mountain range cycling event that takes place over three days. Although it is not a timed race, it covers some of the most iconic road cycling routes with stunning views and challenging climbs.
