How Do Tjimur Dancers Tell a Story? - Yosifu’s Cultural Canvas
Tjimur’s Indigenous modern dance draws from the Paiwan people’s belief in harmony with nature. Yosifu held an outdoor dance workshop to perform a river ceremony in tribute to Qatiyan, ancestral lands where the Paiwan interacted with other groups on the journey from Sandimen to Shuimen. Each dancer first gathers leaves, twigs, stones and other local materials from the river before joining in the dance. Their personal insights, stories, and messages derived from the rehearsal process will inform later productions at Tjimur Dance Theatre.
