Tjimur is Redefining Modern Dance - Yosifu’s Cultural Canvas Ep3
Yosifu visits the Tjimur Dance Theatre to explore modern dance that incorporates traditional breathing, singing, and dancing techniques from the Paiwan culture. Artistic director Ljuzem Madiljin explains that Tjimur dance training turns inwards to help dancers focus on their own movements and truly connect with others. As they rehearse, Yosifu comes to understand what it means to dance in the circle (Zemiyan). Those who are willing may ask to join the community in protecting and continuing their legacy. The final performance, “Ljuzem’s Walk”, not only comes with cultural recognition, but also proves to be a cleansing spiritual experience for everyone.
