Meinong in Kaohsiung once enjoyed prosperity for its tobacco leaf production for several decades. The local tobacco industry is now on the decline as changes were made to the state's tobacco procurement structure, making it less profitable than before. Meinong resident Chu Cheng-fu recounts the process of how tobacco leaves are hand-picked and cured, adding that he's confident in the farmers' future endeavors since they managed to grow the most demanding crop.
