When Tsai Erh-jung’s father died, he passed down to Tsai his life’s work: his paper mache crafts. Originally working in the IT industry, Tsai did not want the art to disappear. Not only did he teach himself the craft, but he also crammed at a library and revived the lost demolding technique for making paper mache god figures, which allowed him to improve on his craft. By participating in exhibitions overseas, he brought a dying industry back to life and introduced it to a wider audience.
