With 20% of South Korea's population now aged 65 and over, the country is tackling the growing digital divide among its older citizens. Official surveys show that 60% of South Koreans over 60 face difficulties using digital services, compared to just 6% of adults under 40. Specialized AI digital learning centers in Seoul are teaching older adults essential skills—from ordering food at touchscreen kiosks to booking hospital appointments and buying movie tickets online. Launched as a government initiative in 2020 as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the centers have empowered more than 650,000 older adults to build digital confidence and live independently.
