The US says it has disrupted a yearslong Chinese hacking campaign that breached sensitive US and Taiwanese networks, including Taiwan's energy sector.

The US says it has thwarted a years-long Chinese hacking campaign that breached sensitive US and Taiwanese networks.

The FBI says the hacking operation dates back to at least 2018. It says the operation targeted key US agencies including the Justice Department, NASA and the Senate. It also successfully installed malware on systems in Taiwan's energy sector in 2021. The US says hackers used tools linked to a company working with China's intelligence and military services. US authorities say they’ve seized domains used by the group. Beijing is accusing Washington of using cybersecurity issues to smear China.
