Potential Nvidia-OpenAI Deal

REPORTER:

Nvidia is reportedly in talks with OpenAI to provide $250 billion US dollars in financing for a major data center project.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the backing would help OpenAI lease a massive data center in southern Ohio. The project, being developed by SoftBank’s energy subsidiary, could cost more than $500 billion US dollars. The deal could help OpenAI build its own infrastructure instead of relying on Microsoft, Amazon, and Oracle. It could also help Nvidia secure long-term demand for its AI chips. The deal is an example of tech giants increasingly tapping debt and equity markets to fund AI infrastructure.
