The court’s justices rejected an executive order by US president Donald Trump’s administration to end birthright citizenship. The vote was 6 against and 3 in favor of Trump’s action. Birthright citizenship has been enshrined in the US Constitution since 1868. Trump is now urging Congress to try to end it through legislation.
