Local Flights Facing Cuts
REPORTER:
Mandarin Airlines says it plans to suspend two money-losing domestic routes serving Taiwan's east coast.
The China Airlines subsidiary filed with regulators to halt direct flights between Hualien and Kaohsiung, and Hualien and Taichung. The carrier says only around 20 to 30 percent of seats are booked on those flights, which lose over two million US dollars a year. Hualien tourism groups warn that losing those direct links will hurt international visitor numbers.
