Taiwan Welcomes First Japan-Made N700ST Bullet Train

Taiwan High Speed Rail has welcomed the first of 12 new N700ST bullet trains ordered from Japan. The first trainset was unveiled in Kaohsiung on Saturday. Based on Japan’s latest N700S Shinkansen, the N700ST trains are lighter and more energy efficient, with upgraded passenger amenities including charging ports at every seat, more luggage space and bidet-equipped restrooms. The first N700ST trainset is expected to enter service next summer.

Taiwan High Speed Rail has welcomed the first of 12 new N700ST bullet trains ordered from Japan.
The first trainset was unveiled in Kaohsiung on Saturday. Based on Japan’s latest N700S Shinkansen, the new trains are lighter and more energy efficient. They also come with upgraded passenger amenities, including charging ports at every seat, more luggage space and bidet-equipped restrooms. It’s the first new train model introduced by the Taiwan High Speed Rail in more than two decades. The first trainset is expected to enter service next summer.

Taiwan High Speed Rail welcomes its first of 12 new Japan-made N700ST bullet trains with a ceremony in the southern port city of Kaohsiung on Saturday.
The carriages are based on Japan’s latest N700S Shinkansen and designed for the needs of Taiwan. It is not only lighter but also uses less energy. It also provides better passenger amenities, such as charging ports for all seats, more luggage space, restrooms equipped with bidet toilets and larger nursing rooms.
This is the first time in more than two decades since Taiwan High Speed Rail introduced a new train model.
