Taiwan Broadcasting System, or TBS, is marking its 20th anniversary with a series of public events celebrating public media.
Li Yuan (CULTURE MINISTER):
I am very happy that after 20 years
despite all the ups and downs
this group is still here and continues to grow stronger.
As you’ve just seen, back then
there was only Hakka TV, Indigenous TV and CTS.
After Indigenous TV later left
Hakka TV continued, and then Taigi TV was launched.

A ceremony in Taipei brought together government officials and executives from Taiwan's public broadcasters to give their vision of the network's future.
TBS is a state-supported public media organization that brings together several public television networks.
The anniversary celebration includes an open house and a forum inviting young people to share their ideas on public broadcasting.
Hu Yuan-hui (CHAIR, PUBLIC TELEVISION SERVICE FOUNDATION):
For everyone working at TBS
whether it’s controversy around the board of directors
or challenges encountered at work
these have, in fact, become all too familiar.
Still, we will listen carefully to the public’s feedback.
We also hope that the appointing
of our board of directors and supervisors
can be resolved smoothly by the wisdom
and goodwill of both the ruling and opposition parties.
