The number of foreign nationals taking Taiwan’s Taiwanese-language proficiency test on Saturday hit a five-year high, with 23 applicants from countries including India and Japan.

More foreign nationals are taking Taiwan's Taiwanese-language proficiency test.

23 foreign nationals, including people from India and Japan took the Taiwanese Taigi test on Saturday. That’s the highest number in five years. Almost 12 thousand people signed up for the exam on Saturday, with students making up around 60% of all participants. Those aged 13 to 15 made up the largest age group, with 7 to 12-year-olds coming next.

A total of 23 foreigners, including participants from India and Japan took the Taiwanese-language proficiency test in Taiwan, the highest in five years.
