Coast Guard Detains Chinese Fishing Boat near Penghu

Taiwan’s coast guard has detained a Chinese fishing boat for operating illegally in waters off the outlying Penghu islands.
Chen Fu-rong (DEPUTY CAPTAIN, PENGHU COAST GUARD):
After asking the vessel to stop for inspection
they did not cooperate and tried to evade us.
Considering that the vessel was towing large fishing nets
to ensure personnel safety
we dispatched a small boat
to board and inspect the vessel.
Six Chinese crew members have been detained. The boat has been towed to Magong Harbor and the case will be handled according to cross-strait laws.

Taiwan’s Coast Guard has detained six Chinese fishermen suspected of bottom trawling around its outlying island of Penghu.

After broadcasting a request for the vessel to stop for inspection,
the other party did not cooperate
and tried to evade us by swerving around.
Considering that the vessel was towing large fishing nets,
to ensure the safety of the personnel,
we dispatched a small boat to board and inspect the vessel.
We successfully controlled the scene
and found six Chinese crew members.
The Chinese fishing vessel attempted to evade detection, but the Coast Guard dispatched a small boat to intercept it. The Coast Guard patrol boarded the vessel and detained the six Chinese crew members on board. They will face legal consequences.
