South China Sea Tension
REPORTER:
Taiwan's foreign ministry condemned China Wednesday for what it called an unsafe and highly provocative patrol near Scarborough Shoal on Wednesday.
The ministry said China used dangerous flight maneuvers to disrupt the normal operations of another country’s aircraft. Chinese state media footage showed for a first time a trainer jet carrying live missiles driving off a Philippine official aircraft near the contested reef.
The ministry said China has been ramping up pressure in the South China Sea, and pledged to keep working with regional partners on freedom of navigation.
