At the biennial gathering for hundreds of party delegates, President Lai Ching-te, who is also DPP chair, was joined by the Vice President, Premier, and candidates for this year's local city and county elections. Speaking in Taiwanese Taigi, Lai praised the party's work to defend Taiwan's sovereignty and pursue peace through self-defense. He said the DPP would continue to push policies like tax cuts and better social benefits. Lai urged party members to support their candidates' campaigns for critical November elections.
