A consumer group is launching a class action lawsuit against makers of tainted cooking oil that got into school lunches.
The oil contained excessive levels of a cancer-causing chemical. And while school meals are just one of the places the oil ended up, the Consumer Protection Association in Taiwan is focusing on potential harm to students. It’s accepting evidence from schools until late October. It expects a payout of around $186 million US dollars if it wins the case.
