Taiwan health authorities are warning of a new wave of COVID-19 as the number of cases in the region continues to rise.

 

Taiwan’s Centers for Disease Control said Tuesday that COVID infections have been rising for five consecutive weeks. Last week saw nearly 3,000 medical visits for the disease, up 34 percent from a week before. They noted similar trends in nearby countries. Infections are expected to peak in about a month when schools resume class, and advise vulnerable groups to get vaccinated. Since October 2025, Taiwan has recorded 136 severe cases of COVID and 18 related deaths.
