A Taipei man in his 70s has died from hantavirus, Taiwan's first death from the disease this year. The man began developing symptoms in early January, then died around a week later. He tested positive for hantavirus after his death. Taipei health officials confirm two rats captured near the man's home were carrying the disease, which can be spread through rodent waste.
