Taiwan’s legislature has passed an amendment requiring education authorities to help schools provide free menstrual products to students who need them. It’s part of several changes to the School Health Act addressing menstrual education and smoking on campus. While the education ministry already introduced a similar program in 2023, lawmakers said it had not been effective because it was not legally binding. They said codifying the policy in law would strengthen oversight and ensure schools implement it.
