Taiwan’s Record-Breaking Export Surge

Taiwan’s export orders broke records in August -- surpassing 100 billion US dollars in a single month for the first time.
That’s a more than 70 percent growth year on year. Taiwan’s economy ministry thinks exports will remain at around 100 billion US dollars per month through the end of the year, with total exports for 2026 potentially surpassing a trillion dollars. The surge is driven by a US build-out of AI and cloud services.

The figure of around US$103 billion represents growth of more than 70% year on year. The Economy Ministry expects exports to remain at around US$100 billion per month through the end of the year, with full-year export orders potentially reaching US$1.1 trillion.
The surge is mainly driven by AI and semiconductor orders from US cloud service giants.
