Taiwan Mango Exports See Growth in First Half of 2026
Taiwan's mango exports nearly tripled in the first half of this year when compared to the same period last year. That's despite a years-long Chinese ban on Taiwan mangoes that have hurt farmers. Japan and South Korea are now the two leading markets, helping to cushion the blow.
Taiwan Mango Exports Jump
REPORTER:
Taiwan’s mango exports are on the rise, with Japan the country's top overseas market. New agriculture ministry figures show Taiwan shipped out around 1,500 tons of the fruit in the first half of this year. That’s nearly triple what it sold abroad in the same period last year, selling more than $8 million US dollars worth. Mango farmers have struggled since 2023, when China put an import ban on the Taiwanese fruit in what Taipei sees as a politically motivated act. But growing demand in Japan and South Korea have helped cushion the blow.
