An afternoon rainstorm on Friday triggered flash floods and a landslide in parts of eastern Taiwan. In Hualien County, a rocky landslide trapped dozens of vehicles inside a mountain highway tunnel. Rising floodwaters reached up to half a meter in Guangfu township, forcing the evacuation of several villages. Authorities report that the water is receding and water pumps are ready for deployment.
