Taiwan's Olympic Name Dilemma
Politics has entered the Winter Games, with a Chinese spokesperson at an IOC press conference declaring there is only “one China.” It has put the spotlight on Taiwan’s dilemma of not being able to compete under its own name. As in every Games since 1984, Taiwan’s Olympians must use the name “Chinese Taipei,” under pressure from China. It’s an issue that is frustrating many Taiwanese.
