Ocean: Coral Reefs embody Taiwan's natural diversity
Coral reefs protect coastlines from damaging waves and storms. They may be the most diverse ecosystem on earth, and are called rainforests of the ocean. Over 25% of all marine life depends on coral reefs which provide habitat, shelter, and food for many species. Taiwan is the northernmost point for vibrant coral reefs, with an abundance of soft coral varieties. Coral reefs play a vital role in our planet's ecosystem and need our protection.
