Ocean: Canoeing Around Green Island
Taiwan's waters are home to a vast and complex marine ecosystem. It is important for Taiwanese to be educated on the country's relationship with the ocean, so the elementary school on Green Island requires that students canoe around the entire island in order to graduate. This allows students to see their environment and understand how they share the same world with their marine cousins while learning the value of teamwork, rowing on the potentially rough seas with their fellow students.
