Climate change has been somewhat of a mainstream topic since the late 80’s. It’s hard to fathom any modern-day human being who’ve not heard of or thought of the effects of climate change. Yet, what is climate change? Today, Dr. Aziz Mulla sits down with Trevor Padgett, who studies forest ecosystems, and Dr. Vicky Lin, a marine ecologist. Together, they tackle the hefty issue of environmental degradation and what it is like being a scientist during a climate crisis. Indeed, as Trevor mentions, it’s not entirely accurate to refer to all the changes as “climate change,” for the climate has always been changing. “It’s more about the rate at which it's changing.” Likewise, Vicky highlights what she believes to be a core issue, which is the way we manage our environment. After all, maybe the fatigue many are feeling about climate change is not because it's wrongfully deemed as a hoax. It’s maybe due to the lack of human environment interaction and connection.
