Karna, a bold stage production by Ex-Theatre Asia reimagines the Indian epic Mahabharata in unexpected ways. Taiwanese actors use elements of Peking opera and Kunqu opera to perform the story alongside Indian performers joining the production in Taiwan. What happens when an Indian epic meets Taiwanese theatre? The show was a great success in Miaoli and has even toured across India. Director Jayanta, who founded the troupe over 20 years ago with his Taiwanese wife, Executive Director Lin Pei-an, invites Priya on a backstage tour to see how art brings cultures together through creativity, trust, and shared stories.
