Indian Ayurveda and Taiwanese TCM Keep Us Healthy! - Namaste Taiwan Ep6

Reporter/Provider - TaiwanPlus

Taiwan National Health insurance covers both Western and Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Dr. Priya and her son, Ashish, explore the connection between India’s Ayruveda and TCM clinics in Taiwan. Ayruveda practitioners emphasize balancing the body, mind, and spirit through natural remedies, diet, and lifestyle changes. TCM likewise focuses on self-healing from within using herbs, acupuncture, and chiropractic massage. Any additional prescriptions are also readily available at attached pharmacies next to more than 23,000 Taiwanese clinics. The National Health Insurance offers extensive and affordable coverage to all citizens and foreigners who have lived in Taiwan for longer than six months. Anyone can apply through their employer or school to enjoy NHS coverage regardless of occupation, age, gender, or income level. These services include outpatient care, surgery, hospitalization, and preventative medicine. Medical histories are all stored on national health insurance cards to scan when visiting the doctor. A typical visit costs just NT$200 to NT$300 or just under ten US dollars.
