Dead eagles used to mysteriously appear in Tainan's Guantian District. After investigating the incidents, locals found the deaths were linked to pesticides used in local water caltrop fields. It turned out that the eagles had died from eating Pheasant-tailed jacanas that fed on the plant. Determined to rescue the birds, wildlife conservationist Lee Wen-chen persuaded local farmers to adopt organic farming practices, restoring balance to the local ecology.
