Family Matters: Keeping the Old Wagashi Shop Alive Ep5
Chou Heng-yi runs an 80-year-old wagashi shop. He gave up a career as an entrepreneur to inherit the shop from his father and uncle. Managing an old shop amid shifting market trends is always an uphill business. Additionally, Chou has to face the choice of whether to work with an aging staff or recruit more employees. He believes that making wagashi is a craft that should respect the traditions despite changing times. He is optimistic that the shop will stay in business long enough to celebrate its centennial.
