China Reports Weakest GDP Growth Since 2022

China has reported year-on-year GDP growth of 4.3%, its lowest since 2022. The country is seeing a trend of uneven GDP growth as slow domestic consumption and a long-troubled real estate market offset strong exports, especially in AI. Beijing could announce plans for an economic stimulus package at the end of July.

China has reported its weakest GDP growth since 2022, driving expectation for an economic stimulus package.

 

China’s economy grew just 4.3 percent year-on-year in the second quarter. The figure came in below analysts’ forecasts and Beijing’s official target for 2026. China is seeing a trend of uneven growth as slow domestic consumption and a long-troubled real estate market offset strong exports, especially in AI.

 

Chinese officials are expected to reveal possible economic stimulus plans in late July.
