US Holds Off on Blacklisting DeepSeek AI and Over 100 Chinese Firms

REPORTER:

The Trump administration is reportedly holding off on blacklisting China’s DeepSeek AI and more than 100 other firms, despite national security concerns.

Reuters says the companies were set to be added to the Commerce Department's Entity List last year. The blacklist restricts exports of US goods and technology.

But the list has not been updated since October, the longest gap in updating in more than a decade.

Sources told Reuters the delay reflects Washington's wish to not escalate tensions with Beijing.

US officials have accused DeepSeek of supporting China's military.
